Hunt Club - Onboarding "Concept Car"
Spring 2023
My Roles
UX Researcher
UX Designer
Hunt Club is a platform that enables users to refer people in their professional network to job opportunities.
The problem
In order for users to get the most value out of the Hunt Club platform, we needed to have access to their professional network. The problem was two fold and quickly bubbled to the surface during user research:

-
The UX for uploading your connections was too manual and disjointed
-
The perceived value of doing so wasn't obvious to users
-
While most users see value in networking and seek out solutions to improve their skills, it is still a behavior that is unnatural to them.
The solution
-
Leverage new backend technology that seamlessly imports professional contacts to the Hunt Club platform
-
Reduce TTV by displaying groupings and insights about your professional network and reinforce new habit building behaviors during the onboarding process
-
Leverage AI to help people better query and understand their networks
1. Seamless contact integration

Our engineering team had recently shipped the ability to import and infer professional connections. The identification and verification process is represented in these mocks.
2. Reducing TTV and building habits

To help users start to understand the power of the hunt club platform, we can attempt to deliver quick insights or breakdowns about their network. We learned that most people are hesitant to upload their networks to the platform because they have so many "weak" connections that dilutes the signal to noise ratio when networking.

I explored ways to give the user the opportunity to visualize and easily segment their network prior to committing to import anyone to the Hunt Club platform so that they felt more in control and excited to see their network in Hunt Club.
3. Leverage AI to activate users

I explored ways to get users used to using their professional networks immediately after onboarding. To do so, I took inspiration from the magical feeling of asking GPT to help you with something and getting a helpful answer.
I applied the concept of searching Google for an answer to searching your network for an answer, which is a notion we learned most of our target users wanted to do, but lacked the data enrichment and standardization to do so since that's the unique value prop the the Hunt Club platform can offer.
